City are the first team to play in four consecutive FA Cup finals at Wembley Stadium, but they have lost their last two finals to Manchester United and Crystal Palace. Guardiola hopes to turn their luck around and win the trophy.
"There's excitement, of course," Guardiola said. "I hope we can do better than the last two times."
He's looking forward to a fresh start against Chelsea, with a new team and a new game plan. "It's a new game against Chelsea," he said. "We are in the final and we have to try to win the trophy."
Guardiola has a strong track record in the FA Cup, with City winning 21 of their last 23 matches. He's set to lead his team to Wembley for a record 24th time, a feat he joked should be recognized.
Guardiola joked that he's disappointed there isn't a stand at Wembley named after him, but he's not letting it get to him. "I am disappointed they have not made a stand for me," he said. "Maybe I have to come back 24 more times."
Guardiola also addressed rumors about his future, saying he's signed a new contract with City. However, he was quick to clarify that it was just a joke. "I extended the contract with them three more years," he said, before adding "Nope."
Lastly, Guardiola was asked if he'll consider the season a success, even if City doesn't catch up with Arsenal in the Premier League title race. "It depends on the trophies you lift," he said. "Sometimes you lift trophies and the season has been successful. Sometimes, you lift and the season has been really, really bad."
